Day 51- Heart Print Pants part 3

Project : Heart Pants - progress report

        I just thought I would give a little progress report concerning the Heart Print Pants. We now have front pockets and a back yoke, top stitching and pocket bags even. Hopefully I will be able to have the back sewn together and the zipper put in before the weekend is over. Completely finishing them would be ideal but we will see. Pictures to follow.

Day 50- Playing Hooky

        I played hooky today. After the punk flea market, Keith and I went for a walk downtown. We walked by the river and around parliament. After that it was lunch. We walked all over and made plans for tomorrow to go get ice cream at a really cool new shop. We will be going to the Marble Slab Creamery in the Glebe. I spent the day creation free, except for this blog. I will get on the crafting plan tomorrow. Oh and as I said I would report any cool finds, a Zombie Cupcake tank top and octopus cuff links. Just so you know.

Day 49 – Looking forward to the weekend

        We are having e a long weekend here in Canada. We celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday. Victoria day, we get the Monday off the week of May 24^th, , often called May 2-4 because we Canadians tend to party this first warm, long weekend of the year. I will not be partying. I will be making pants. Well I will be making pants after I go to the punk flea market held at the Bronson centre by punkottawa. But there will be pants making. Getting the pair of pants completed and then finishing the armwarmers would be my next goal. I will keep you up to date on my progress and any cool finds at the flea market.

Day 48 – Project Art for the sake of Art

Project Art for the sake of Art

         Work has been super slow this week. I have been in a meeting that are not really applicable to me, basically meetings that I could sleep through but am not allowed. Now I have almost fallen asleep a few times in large meetings, so now I always bring a notebook so I can sketch and jot down ideas. This week I wrote a children's book. Those of you following this blog, you know I am trying to be a writer full time. But I wasn't sure about illustration. I am a bit of an artist, I can draw cartoons, so I started character design today. The story is about a young male penguin, thus I sketched out a petite penguin. Here he is. 

 

        I gave myself a mini goal to submit at least one work to publishers this year and this might be it.

Day 47 – So very tired!!!

        I went out for creme brulee tonight. I am now in a bit of a sugar coma. So there will be a very little update tonight. I am about 3 inches from finishing my armwarmer prototypes. I will likely only sew more this weekend, mostly because I have to set up a work station. Tomorrow's post will be longer. Promise. Night.

Day 46 – Holy Shit! All of a sudden I'm popular.

        In the span of 24 hours, literally 24 hours, I have been commissioned to sew both a wedding dress, in nontraditional colour,s and a baptismal gown, in very traditional colours. Apparently they commissioners are going to purchase all required materials and I will simply have to sew it together. They are even buying patterns for me to use. So no designing, no pattern making, just sewing and basic alterations/fitting. I have rough estimates when the items will be due but nothing concrete. I know very little about what they want to use, linen, silk, satin, lace or synthetics, I have no idea. Both clients are out of towners, so they plan on mailing me the materials. I will have formal fittings but the start of the construction will be based off their measurements. Well for the baptismal gown anyways. I will add them to the project list when I receive the fabric. Until then that is all I have to say on the topic.

Day 45- Pocket!!!!

                     I added pockets on to the back of the pants. So here are some pictures.

I made very little progress today as I was super busy. Better luck tomorrow. That's all for tonight.
