December 5th - Remember Rankin and Bass?

Stop Motion Awesomeness

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid and Donder and Blitzen.,
But do you recall?
The most famous reindeer of all?
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Most of us remember this lovable Christmas special but do you remember the other specials created by Rankin-Bass Animation? Let me enlighten you. If you ever wonder what happen to Rudolph after he saved Santa's butt he went to star in.....

Rudolph's Shiny New Year

Basically Rudolph is asked by Father Time to find the Baby New Year, Happy, who ran has run away because he is sick of  people mocking his huge ears.  A New Year is needed each year or it will stay December 31st forever and an ancient, evil buzzard, Aeon, will take over the world. Which you know is just trouble.  Not the greatest Rankin-Bass special ever made but at least you get to see a lot more of Rudolph.

Rankin-Bass also produced Frosty the Snowman and Frosty's Winter Wonderland

So why not team up Rudolph and Frosty....

Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July

An evil wizard, Winterbolt, was put to sleep by Lady Borealis, the enchantress. She gives the last of her power to Rudolph as long as he never uses it for evil. Rudolph decides to use his new found power to help his friends Milton and Lilly's circus. Frosty and his wife, Crystal, want to experience the circus with their kids. There is a use of amulets and evil acts. Again not their strongest work but I just love Rudolph's little voice.

More to come tomorrow.
