Day 61- Project Heart Print Pants taking longer than expected

Project Heart Print Pants
I have cut and stressed the waistband. I just have to install it and add a button. Hem them as well. It is taking me longer than I expected. Likely because I have been feeling really run down this week. I have decided to try and take Friday off as a personal day, a mental health day if you will. If I do I am going to focus on finishing these pants. Then hopefully move on to a new project. I need to really start cranking out the projects so I can make my 52 project goal. That will hopefully happen this weekend.

Day 60 – Pictures from the Glebe

I realized I have yet to post pictures of the treasures I found at the Glebe Garage sale last weekend. I purchased two jewellery boxes and a picnic Samsonite case. Also my awesome suitcase. Big enough to almost fit inside it myself. Please forgive me for being snap happy with the camera.

Day 59 - Introducing 1940's style.

If you have been reading my blog for the last few days you will know that today's addition is the introduction of my new Singer Machine in original cabinet.

daaaaaa                    daaaa                         daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa    dun naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

dun dun dun dun dun dun daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

 DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Beautiful isn't it? It is a solid metal machine in a black finish, with gold leafing. It has silver knot work plaques and a gold medallion name plate.

It has only one stitch setting. I don't even think it even has a back stitch but it is is so historic and amazing I don't care. Besides it came with all of it's original manuals and attachments.

Then I just got snap happy with the pictures.

Day 58 – My New Precious!!!!! A Two Day Blog Event!

As I mentioned in my last blog, yesterday I went to the Glebe Garage Sale. As I also mentioned yesterday, I came across several great finds. Therefore I would like to present two new additions in to my sewing collection.

A 1950's portable Kenmore and a 1940's Singer in the original cabinet. When I went to take pictures of these two beauties, I kind of went a little snap happy. To do both of these pieces justice I will be turning this introduction into a two day event.

Let me present my new Kenmore. It is a solid metal machine in a wooden case. It is extremely heavy so although it is meant to be easily portable I will likely set it up on a table and leave it stationary. I was told by the seller that it is a 1950's model. I seems to only have one stitch setting. It has a width setting as well, so I guess it has 2 stitches, straight and zigzag but that is about it. Oh it can sew through a mack truck, it is powerful little thing, shaking the house at maximum speed. This will come in handy when it I have several layers to sew through. Definately when I work with leather.

Here is on upclose shot. A picture of the width gauge. It is used in conjunction with the nob. Loosen the nob and then slide the lever to the width you desire. The last picture is of the length gauge.
This last picture is of a little silver lever who's function is a mystery to me. It seems to lower and raise the teeth that move the fabric (a.k.a feed dogs) I will have to do some research and see what it's exact purpose is. For 15$ I am extremely happy with my purchase. Tune in tomorrow for my introduction of the Singer.

Day 57- The Glebe Garage sale!

All I can say is Holy Shit. I have never been to the Glebe Garage sale before. An annual event that occurs on the Saturday of the third weekend in May. I t is huge, intense, seemingly endless. The sheer amount of stuff, things, places to go, to see. I didn't cover half of it i am sure. I saw two Victrola, seriously, two. A merry-go-round horse. Lizards for sale. My heart was broken twice, I came upon two writing desks throughout the day, both sold. Both gorgeous. But I did have some super great finds. A samsonite picnic case. Two jewellery boxes with locks, I have a ton of mini skeleton keys and found one for each box in my collection. Penguin statue. A turntable watch and two items I will write about tomorrow. So why do I bring this crazy-ass event? Because it is a craft haven! There were tables of fabric, sewing accessories, numerous sewing baskets. I saw ribbons and embellishments, yarn, wool, leather even. I already have a lot of what I saw. Some was not priced well, but remember you can always barter. I know I did. A hell of a lot. Anyways I know I am going to pay for it tomorrow. I got there at 9, next year I will know better and go earlier and better prepared. I walked around until 1 so yeah. I am already starting to get sore. Woo hoo. Can't wait until tomorrow. And you dear reader should be excited too, my blog tomorrow should prove quite interesting indeed.

I have sewn the inseam, outseam and top stitched the legs. I am now ready to join the back, add the waist band and hem them. That's it. Al I have left to do. Not bad, they should be done this weekend. Fingers crossed. Here are a few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Day 55 - The weekend is here

My weekend has arrived. Finally. It didn't come soon enough for me, honestly. I have felt off all week and very emotionally sensitive. No idea why. Just very, very sensitive. So I have been hibernating somewhat. Anyways I have almost completed the armwarmers. It is easy to knit while watching t.v on the couch. I only have a few more rows. I have errands to run tomorrow but I will be working on my projects for the majority of this weekend.

Day 54 - Zippers with ease woo hoo! Kenneth B King, you magnificent bastard!

Those of you following my blog will know I am taking a craftsy course to learn how to make copies or ruboff of purchased clothing. Essentially, I am doing this because I have been asked to make replicas before and basically had to figure it out myself. So I thought why not take a course, a professional would be bound to have some tips and tricks to speed up the process but I never imaged he would have such an easy, effective way to install a zipper. I have installed zippers before, at least 30 or so. But this is the fastest I have ever installed a zipper. It's genius, well Jeanius! Anyway, I highly recommend the course just for the zipper section. The rest is quite helpful as well but the zipper installation is gold.

Day 53 - long day

I had a really long day. Up early, ran all kinds of errands and walked most of the way. So today I don't really have much to say. I am tired and all I want to do is rest. I have another three day weekend coming up and really hope to get some stuff done. I know I have said that before but maybe I will actually been able to this time.
